CD Reviews

Underground of the underground...

"If you already knew this band then you knew that with each new release they would get weirder. If you don't know them then here is a great chance for you to set your definition for "underground music" once and for all by listening to "Loud like nature".
I could try to describe what they sound like but that would be like describing what water tastes like. Add N to (x) are a band that have their mixing techniques advanced to a point rarely heard from any other band. Amazingly, even though you'd expect this CD to sound like the mess of a psychotic but talentless group it sounds like anything but that. The whole thing is intriguing at worst and super exciting at its best.
Most tracks are instru(mental) but they are not the instrumental songs that you lay back and enjoy, instead they have a very life of their own, they mostly jump at you and just as you are to comprehend what you just heard the next one is already launched at your cerebrum.
You will hear everything in here from industrial samples to groovy retro synthie passages to Jesus Lizard dirty rock n roll assaults and trademark indie guitars that shift from heavy to eerie to anything.
Oh, then we got the "vocals".. What school of vocals they exactly are remains an unidentifiable mystery, but rest assured that howls, screeching distortions and Dr.Who sounding recitals are well within the order of the day.
Ok, i understand that all this might spook you if you are looking for something more orthodox but let me remind you that what music is suffering from these days is too much orthodoxy. And i guess the biggest compliment i can pay these guys is that they are deliciously unorthodox. Wowza."
