CD Reviews

The best release by Ace of Base in YEARS!

"Ace of Base return to the top of the pop and dance world with a maxi single that will please fans of both genre. There are a total of four different radio edits to this new smash song that is already screaming up the charts in Scandinavia where it was just released. My personal favorite is the Fairlite Radio edit which is a great turbo-charged techno dance mix that employees the great effect of slowing down the vocals while speeding up the beats and the rhythm. The effect is potent and will have you begging your American DJs to play this track (or the Fairlite Club remix which for now is only available on a special Promo Edition of the single). The Filur and Junk & Function/M12 mixes bring great funk beats and garage and house influences in a way that is surprisingly credible for an Ace of Base track. These two mixes differ in how they revamp the original single edit and they both find a successful formula to make the sound completely new and fresh from the original.Perhaps the greatest treat is the bonus track "Don't Stop" that was recorded for possible inclusion on Da Capo but never made the final tracklisting. An uptempo number that features verses by Jenny, choruses by Linn and occassional dual vocals, "Don't Stop" will remind you of how effective Ace of Base can be when both lead singers are sassy, brash and fun-loving. This bonus track is worth the price of the maxi single alone!!"
