Abby and Norm Group is a jazz guitar oriented quartet - guitar, acoustic piano, bass anddrums - joined for two cuts by tenor saxophone master George Garzone. This recording, produced with care by Abby and Norm, and mastered by Wayne Wadhams, features Norm's compositions, so grounded in traditional strengths that one could swear each tune was an old great that somehow, has not yet been heard; yet utterly modern, and a completely individual statement. The tunes and the playing as deep and complex as good jazz, yet as simple and enjoyable as great jazz.

"The Abby and Norm group have sucessfully produced a true jazz album sounding as standard and classic as it does avant-garde. The original compositions of Norm Zocher single handedly define a good jazz guitar album. His delicate phrasing makes it sound easier than mary had a little lamb, while non-the-less pushing the technical envlope. A must have for any jazz guitarist!"

"IF YOU LIKE THE METHENY/MAYS ENSAMBLE SOUND THIS BAND SOUNDS SIMILAR. ALSO, LIKE METHENY, THE COMPOSITIONS BLEND CONTEMPORARY AND STRAIGHT-AHEAD STYLES. ON AVERAGE THE MATERIAL IS BETTER THAN YOU'LL FIND ON MOST OF METHENY'S ALBUMS. CYTYC THINPREP 2000 IS A GEM."
