CD Reviews

AJ Mora is the new KING of Christian House Music!
the_real_dj404 | GROOVE | 07/24/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"You may remember him as the second half of the early 90's group "The Movement", who released the smash, "Jump, Everybody Jump". Or maybe you know him from the popular LA station's late night Saturday Dance Mix, "Power Tools" on Power 106. OR perhaps you know him from the Aqua Boogie team, comprised of Richard "Humpty" Vission, Pete Lorimer and of couse, AJ Mora! But now, this former House Junkie turned Christian, Ordained Minister, and Inner City LA Youth Pastor is still pounding out the absolute best dance music with a straight up, gospel salvation message. Little do may know, but if you do any clubbing in Los Angeles, you may have already been exposed to AJ's Music. This album was originally released in 1997 as sort of a "test the waters" project to see how the Christian dance scene would react, but also how the secular scene would react to AJ's new vibe. It was loved! Three tracks that I know of made huge club success and even ended up on mix cd's from Richard "Humpty" Vission, Artie The One Man Partie, Bad Boy Bill, and Tony B! "I Found Something Real", "I Lift My Hands" and "Rapture (C'Mon Lift Me Up)" impacted the influence on both Christian and secular house music. For Christian music, It raised the quality (ie. sound, vocals, sampling) and for secular it raised the message (ie. positive, love influenced vs. lust influenced, spiritual). I highly recommend this CD. Also don't forget to check out AJ's complete porfolio. He's got plenty of vinyl for all you dj's put there. ps. AJ is also a really nice guy."
