NOT A CHEAP DUB COMPILATION/ DO NOT PASS UP!!!
10/10/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When I bought this I had not heard it and was skeptical because there are so many cheap dub compilations out there. This was not one of them! It is actually very happy music which is not usually how I like my dub, I prefer more of a dark, low bass dub and don't like happpier dubs due to too many goofy sound effects thrown in...however this is just straight up laid back uplifting dub, with more melody than a lot of dub but a perfect amount of bass....do not miss this one"
Cool set of dub reggae tunes
Olukayode Balogun | Leeds, England | 07/09/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This really cool set of dub reggae tunes from the legendary King Tubby studios, features King Tubby, Lee Perry and The Upsetters. This is not the CD I meant to get as it turns out. I wanted the dub version of the Johnny Clarke tune "Roots, Natty Roots, Natty Congo" and stupid me saw "Natty Congo (Version)" on this CD and thought that was it.

I now know that the tune I'm looking for is called "African Worldwide" and that there are a few versions floating around, including one performed by Johnny Clarke & Dillinger, one by Dillinger on his own and another by Tommy McCook. It's not going to be easy to get my hands on this tune. I managed to find a few examples on amazon but they're not cheap - one of the items I put on my wishlist is currently selling for $494.87! So I may be waiting a while. At least until my lottery tickets come up or the album in question is reissued, whichever comes first.

But this is really good stuff to be getting on with right here and even though the tune I wanted isn't on it, I'm enjoying it so much I decided to keep it. If you're into old-school dub style reggae, you will not go amiss with this one."
