Synopsis

Album Description
Following on from the release of their stunning EP Beat of Your Drum, Sydney siders 78 Saab bring us the album - Crossed Lines. The band have not only delivered on the promise of their debut (Picture A Hum, Can't Hear A Sound) but surpassed it. The result of two years of writing, re-writing, endless demos, and several different album sessions with producer Tim Whitten, Crossed Lines combines great songwriting with familiar touchstones (Neil Young, REM, The Church, Died Pretty) and comes from a band who have found their own distinctive sound and place in the world. Liberation/Ivy League. 2004.

CD Reviews

Top Drawer Aussie Music
Charlie | Wagga Wagga, New South Wales Australia | 05/19/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I reckon the key to all good songs or albums for me is the "sound". This album has it in spades. Great guitar and a 70's retro sound through it, or what I remember the 70's pop sound to be.

There is not a bum track on this excellent album from this Sydney band and I think it should do well if released in a major market. I can't help feeling that the world misses out on so much good stuff from Australia because we are so small in the global market.

This deserves a great deal of success, but most likely will not be seen or heard outside this country. Pity really. Cheers nonetheless."
All a Lie
Baldee | Australia | 08/27/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Well-crafted, multi-layered and melodic. This is the kind of album which is both listenable and yet keeps giving on succeeding plays (for instance, I'm only now starting to realise how neatly put together the intro the track titles "All is a lie"). This is the case for most tracks -- furthermore, you catch yourself humming snatches of a song quite often. Much played in the vdS household."
Great aussie rock
G. Bell | tha gong, Australia | 04/29/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a really enjoyable album. Kind of psychadelic pop I guess. Though a bit more rocky? Not a track I dont like. If you want to hear some great aussie rock on the up and up, you cant go past this little number."
