CD Reviews

Where has this music been for all these years?
Music Man | Warren, Michigan | 03/07/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD epitomizes the problems that exist with record labels and copyright laws. It's my understanding that this collection of music was set to be released by the band, 707, with a new keyboardist after completing a tour together opening for REO Speedwagon. Yet, for some unknown reason (most likely a record label decision), this record was shelved. What a shame to have had this music hidden for so many years. It is outstanding!! It truly shows the maturity beginning to form in the band, with such great songs as "Leader", "You're All I Need" and "Message From A Friend". "Couldn't Be Better" is also a great song from this collection. Two of the three "BONUS" tracks are better than many of original items selected for the original LP. I loved "The Waiting Game".

Instead, some record label exec decided 707 needed a lead singer for the next LP which became "Mega Force". (This likely ticked off the Lead Singing bassist Phil Bryant since he isn't in a picture of the band shortly after the LP "Mega Force" was released). Not that the lead singer on "Mega Force" wasn't a great singer in his own right. Kevin Chalfant is fabulous, don't get me wrong. But there was no reason on the planet to deny music fans the opportunity to listen to these songs as recorded by 707. Yet, since the band was signed to a record label, they couldn't find some other way to release these songs.

If you are a fan of 707, you MUST GET this CD. Even if you aren't, but are a fan of AOR rock as it grew up in the early '80's, you will find the music on this CD very enjoyable and refreshing! Be sure to give a listen."
