Great Canadian Guitar Rock

"Back in the summer of 1985, I returned home from college and heard the song "Baby Ran" by 54-40 over and over on this radio station when New Wave was cool the first time. I couldn't get the guitar hook and bass line out of my head and made a radio cassette tape of it for the return to school. I still have that tape today. Recently, I was up in Montreal on a business trip and heard a song on the rental car radio called "Ocean Pearl" by, you guessed it, 54-40. Deja vu was everywhere suddenly. The DJ beamed that "Canada's Finest" was about to put out their latest album. I was intrigued. Could this be the same band I had dug so much 15 years ago? I tried out "54 40" under popular music on Amazon.com and there it was! 54 40 lives! And very well! I bought this greatest hits compilation noticing that "Baby Ran" was on it and have been playing it near non-stop since!Four different albums from 1984 through 1989 are touched on in this disc totalling 17 songs. Each time I played the disc, I came across another different song that I couldn't get out of my head. Even Hootie and the Blowfish at their peak covered "Alcohol Heart" included on this disc. My personal experience has been that Canadian bands seem to be great with guitar rock and roll. These guys have been doing a superb job at it for over 18 years and are still going strong. The bottom line: Buy it if you love good old rock guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards to catchy lyrics and crooning. Give it a couple plays over a week before you decide whether you like it or not. They will grow on you and have you way satisfied."
This is an different look for music

"This Canadian band brings a different look to music that I personally thought was good. It is not crude and their voices are easy to listen to. I was very impressed by their music."
