CD Reviews

A solid release from the older members of V6
Dennis A. Amith (kndy) | California | 08/10/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"It's been about eight years since the last release of a CD single (Precious Love, 2nd CD single, rel. Sept. 2000) by 20th Century, which are essentially the three oldest members of the Johnny's idol group V6.

The group consists of Sakamoto Masayuki, Nagano Hiroshi and Inohara Yoshihiko. In my opinion, are the better vocal-wise of V6.

Their third CD single "Ore Ja Nakya, Kimi Ja Nakya" features a song written and composed by Tortoise Matsumo of the rock band ULFULS and features an happy upbeat song which propelled the group to #1 on the Oricon Daily Charts on the day of release.

The DVD featuring the music video for "Ore Ja Nakya, Kimi Ja Nakya" is a humorous and somewhat cheesy video featuring the guys discovering Nagano hatched from an egg and trying to catch him. The guys are featured singing in an office with disco balls going on and the guys doing the robot dance.

The coupling song "Ai ni Ikou" features mid-tempo track which actually is a very, nicely composed song and actually enjoy more than the main track.

Bare in mind, because it's a Johnny's release, that means multiple releases and there are three versions.

Version A features a DVD, Version B features a bonus disk with I believe episodes from their radio show and 12-page booklet and version C (normal CD version) featuring an extra third track titled "20 Sensation".

The CD insert is bi-fold with lyrics and production credits and information on their radio show "V6 NEXT GENERATION".

All in all, I've been a fan of V6 since their first album and have watched guys from their variety show "Gakkou e Ikou".

So, I'm used to their music and enjoy it. If there was only one caveat, for those of us who like to sing the karaoke, you would think their would be an instrumental track included. But there isn't.

Also, I think that this CD single is better than their previous "WISHESI'll be thereYou'll Be in My Heart" and "Precious Love".

All in all, a good release for 20th Century. And with a release from them, you know that there will be a release for the other three members of V6 ala Coming Century."
